Takara Tomy Deluxe Class "Dinobot Slug" AD07

Slug is a Triceratops which has two horns on its head and one on its snout. There are two more on the lower jaw too.

Purple is used on majority parts of the figure and red is used on the frills. The light grey parts are made of soft rubber for safety purpose.

If you want to move Slug's rear legs, you need to detach them from the rear panels. Because the rear legs are supposed to be held in place in Triceratops mode. However, the articulation is limited.

In addition, you cannot rotate or move the head up and down. You can only pose the lower jaw in open or close position.

In robot mode, Slug is an ancient warrior. The head with visor design is based on the armets which were used in ancient Europe.

No issue to rotate the head. Slug also has waist articulation in this mode.

I like the design of the legs as each foot has an adjustable pointed toe that allows the figure to stand better.

I love the overall design of the character. Even the appearance at the back of the figure is convincing.

I have to admit that Slug looks fantastic when holding his swords and the weapons fit very well to its fisted hands.

Although the colour application on this character is not movie accurate, the striking colour combination still makes the figure stand up. I highly recommend the Transformers fans to pick it up :)

Takara Tomy Leader Class "Optimus Prime" AD01 Pt.2

I like the sculpted details on the head and chest. As usual, the leader class Optimus Prime has ratchet joints.

The figure is smaller and shorter than the ROTF version, and even the 2007 movie version.

You can place the sword in the rectangular holder connected to the back pack. It's a plus point for this figure.

I have no issue with the back pack. But I hate the two panels extend from the back pack which restrict the legs’ articulation. I would feel good if the panels can be folded up or to the side.

For the sword, I like the guard which has some painted details but for the colour of the blade and grip, I prefer them to be painted in silver.

Besides traditional colours like red and blue, metallic silver is used on every part of the figure.

Many collectors think the waist articulation is designed to allow for more poses but actually it’s for transformation purpose.

Optimus Prime definitely looks great with his sword and shield.

If you wanted to collect the leader class Optimus Prime in Age of Extinction, I highly recommend you to get the Takara version. Because the paint application by Takara is more screen accurate than Hasbro. You may see its semitruck mode here.
